    Welcome to the Spartan College & Career Center Newsletter!

    The purpose of this Newsletter is to foster connection and share opportunities with San Juan High School students and families.

    Lapiz Family Filipino American Education Fund

    Deadline to apply: April 26, 2019

    Award Amount: $2,000

    Eligibility: Past/Present farm or migrant farm worker

    *Incoming freshman or current undergraduate at a UC

    *Must demonstrate financial need



    2019 College Bound Scholarship - Kids Helping Kids  (Seniors)

    Deadline: Friday, April 12th, 2019 

    Award: $300 School Supply Shopping Spree

    Criteria: Graduating senior who demonstrates financial need, proof of acceptance to college, living independently or with friends freshman year, must be available to participate in a shopping spree in Mid-July.

    *Sigma Pi Alpha Sorority Scholarship Fund 2019 (NEW)

    Deadline: Monday, April 15, 2019 (Seniors)

    Criteria: Female High School Senior, GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, student who will attend junior college, trade school or four-year institution in the fall of 2019

    Award: 10 scholarships available

     *Caltrans District 3 - Transportation Scholarship (NEW)

      Deadline: Friday, April 19, 2019 (Seniors)

    Criteria: Be a high school senior intersted in a transportaion related field.

    *Operation Recognition - Sacramento County Office of Education - 2019 Essay Scholarship Program 

    Deadline: April 19th, 2019 (Juniors & Seniors)

    Criteria: Open to High School Juniors or Seniors attending Public Sacramento High School

    *The Women’s Thursday Club of Fair Oaks Scholarship Application - Open to Seniors 

    Deadline: April 23rd, 2019 (Seniors)

    Amount: $1000-$2000

    Eligibility: Must be a graduating senior attending Bella Vista, Casa Roble, Del Campo, or San Juan

    -Must demonstrate financial need, must possess academic potential and a desire to continue pursuing an education after high school.

    *Citrus Heights Lions Club - Community Service Scholarship Application

    Deadine: Tuesday, April 30th, 2019 (Seniors)

     Eligibility: Minimum of 24 volunteer hours accumulated in the past 12 months, Senior currently enrolled in high school with a minimum of a 2.0 GPA

    *WASH Scholarship for the Arts - Watercolor Artists of Sacramento, Horizons Inc.

    Deadline to Apply: May 1st, 2019 (Seniors)

    Award Amount: $1,000

    Applicants must submit an artist's statement, digital art portfolio, letters of recommendation, and documentation.

    Internship, Job, & Volunteer Opportunities:

    *Paid Summer Internship with the Camp Invention Program 

    When: June 18th - July 3rd 2019 (Summer)

    Who: 10th-12th graders (Bilingual students preferred)

    Work closely with children at a local elementary school. Transportation to and from the school is required.

    Every student who graduates from San Juan High School will have the opportunity to have completed all A-G requirements necessary for admission to the CSU/UC system. With dedicated counselors and teachers to assist students with college applications, required classes, and scholarships, all students at San Juan have the opportunity to continue at an institution of higher education.
    San Juan High School also offers extensive college preparation courses and programs, such as AVID and Naviance, to assist in the college application and search process, as well as courses through American River College.
    San Juan High School provides access and support for college and career resources in the Spartan College Career Center (room D-3).  Students can visit during lunch or anytime during the school day with a pass from a teacher.
