    Welcome to the Spartan College & Career Center Newsletter!

    The purpose of this Newsletter is to foster connection and share opportunities with San Juan High School students and families.


    General Announcements:

    Upcoming College & Career Center Events/ Presentations

     Friday, February 8th, 2019 - Friday, March 1st - Financial Aid 

    The College & Career Center in collaboration with the counseling department will continue conducting financial aid workshops. All seniors will have the opportunity to attend a workshop to begin their FAFSA/Dream ACT Application.

    Monday, February 11th - Friday, March 1st - 2-Year College Application Workshops

    The College & Career Center in collaboration with Counseling will be conducting 2-Year College Application Workshops in D-3 during periods 1-4. Passes will be sent to all seniors interested in applying.

    *FUTURE Sacramento Scholarship Program - (Open to Sophomores) 

    Application Opens February 19th, 2019 and closes March 29th, 2019.

    7 Years of Menoring, 5 Year Renewable Scholarship

    Criteria: 10th grade student planning to attend a four-year college, first generation college student, low-income, GPA of 3.0 or above, Sacramento County Resident.

    Criteria: Must be residing in the Sacramento County, Must be a graduating high school senior, Must have a cumulitive GPA of a 2.5 or above, Must be on public assistannce or low income.

    *SAFE Credit Union - Scholarship Opportunity

    Deadline: March 11, 2019 (Seniors)

    Amount: $1000.00

    Eligibility: Graduating senior with a GPA of  3.0 or above, application packets must be postmarked no later than Monday, March 11th, 2019.

    *Cabrillo Civic Clubs of California Scholarship - Open to Seniors

    Deadline to Apply: March 15, 2019 (Seniors)

    Criteria: Be of Portuguese descent, have a minimum of a 3.5 GPA, and have participated in 3 or more extracurricular activities

    Amount: $500

    *The Gregory Kenneth Sherill Memorial Fund Scholarship - St. George Episcopal Church (NEW)

    Deadline: April 1st, 2019 (Seniors)

    Criteria: Between the age of 17-21, either a high school student from the San Juan School District or a graduate, 3.0 GPA within the last two years

    Award Amount: $4000

    Deadline: April 1st, 2019 (Seniors)

    Eligibility: Seniors interested in pursuing a career in a related Family and Consumer Sciences Field

    Eligibility: Must be a graduating senior attending Bella Vista, Casa Roble, Del Campo, or San Juan

    -Must demonstrate financial need, must possess academic potential and a desire to continue pursuing an education after high school.

    Award Amount: $1,000

    Every student who graduates from San Juan High School will have the opportunity to have completed all A-G requirements necessary for admission to the CSU/UC system. With dedicated counselors and teachers to assist students with college applications, required classes, and scholarships, all students at San Juan have the opportunity to continue at an institution of higher education.
    San Juan High School also offers extensive college preparation courses and programs, such as AVID and Naviance, to assist in the college application and search process, as well as courses through American River College.
    San Juan High School provides access and support for college and career resources in the Spartan College Career Center (room D-3).  Students can visit during lunch or anytime during the school day with a pass from a teacher.
