  • Dear Mira Loma Parents, Students and Community,

We are well into our second semester and there are many congratulations to send out.  We are so proud of our Winter sports teams.  Watching our girls’ and boys’ basketball and boys’ soccer all make it into playoffs was so exciting for our athletes and our student body.  Congratulations on great seasons.

We have also done quite well academically.  Our Speech and Debate team continues to capture many awards at each tournament, our Future Business Leaders of America team had multiple award winning students at regionals who will be going to the national finals, our Moot Court teams took both 1st and 2nd  place in the regional competition, and our Science Bowl Team once again took first place in regional competition and will head to Washington DC later this spring for the National competition.    Regional Science Olympiad is this weekend, and we wish our teams all the best.

Last Friday we enjoyed a wonderful Black History Month Block Party.  We are gathering feedback from our community on how we can make this a bigger and better event for next year.  This week we hosted our elective, college, career,  and volunteer fair.  It was the first time we have combined all of these groups and it was a great success.  Lots of wonderful groups represented and great information for our students about how the elective courses they take now help prepare them for college and careers.  I’d like to give a big shout out to our great counseling staff who were instrumental in putting both of these events together.

We have experienced a few problems with our parking and student drop off since the close of our east staff parking lot.  During this time of construction we are strongly urging parents to drop off and pick up in the back of campus.  It is a one way drive entering on Norris by the softball fields, and drop off is to take place in the parking lot on the west side of campus, then an easy exit at the four way stop on Becerra allowing drivers to turn in any direction.   Our front drive simply can’t accommodate the number of student drop offs that used to take place in the east lot.  Thank you for your understanding.

We are now busy planning for Sports-A-Rama, Open House, Athletic Awards Night, Senior Awards Night and Graduation  that will all be taking place in the upcoming weeks. We hope to see you at these events.

Thank you for sharing your wonderful children with us.
