Sylvan is a PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention and Support). Using positive reinforcements, we focus on teaching all students appropriate behavior and rewarding students who are "doing it right." Sylvan's goal is to reduce suspensions and allow students the opportunity to encourage each other to show positive character traits. During the first few weeks of school all staff teaches students Sylvan's expectations through a variety of means: videos on In Your Face News, small group lessons, large class lessons, assemblies, administrative presentations, etc.
Positive Paws: Students have the opportunity to earn paws for showing good character and behavior. Students can then use these paws in our student store to purchase fun items.
Friday Rewards: Every Friday of the year we will have a reward for students who are "doing the right thing". Ex: All students with 100 merits go to lunch early, free icee to every student with 98 or more merits etc
