Band practice begins September 13.  LeGette Elementary School band is taught and conducted by our music teacher, Mrs. Teresi.

LeGette has both 1st year band and 2nd year band. All interested 5th and 6th grade students are invited to join the LeGette Band.  No prior musical experience is necessary for the 1st year band.

Both the 1st year and 2nd year bands will practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays before school. The 2nd year band will practice from 7:20 a.m. - 8:00 a.m. and the 1st year band will practice from 7:50 a.m. - 8:30 a.m.

There is no registration fee to join the band, however students are required to furnish their own instruments.  Local music stores rent and sell instruments for student use.  The school does not own any instruments to loan out.

Choosing the correct instrument is very important to the success of the student. Mrs. Teresi can help students choose the appropriate instrument. Do not purchase instruments from EBAY or discount stores without checking with Mrs. Teresi.  Some of these instruments are of VERY poor quality, and are not worth the purchase price.

There are also additional student required items such as music books and a portable music stand.

Mrs. Teresi will teach the standard elementary band instruments:  flute, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, baritone, and percussion (bells and drums).  Band students will need to practice at least 50 minutes per week at home.

Students are expected to participate in two school concerts each year.  Our Winter Band Concert is January 30.  Our Spring Band & Choir Concert is May 29.

2nd year students also have opportunities to participate in the Capitol Section CMEA 6th grade Honor Band and San Juan District Honor Band.

Students may continue in band at the middle school and high school levels where there are opportunities to participate in many additional school, area, state band competitions and performances.
