My name is Ms. Rios-Acuña! I am a product of San Juan Unified School District. I attended Garfield, Churchill & graduated from El Camino Fundamental High School. I love my neighborhood, so I am glad to be working here as a teacher. My favorite subject to teach is English Language Development because it is challenging and rewarding. After graduating from ECHS, I took classes at American River College before transferring to San Diego State where I studied International Security & Conflict Resolution. This was my first experience studying abroad, where I lived in Urubamba, Peru while working in EcoTourism. I also attended Cal State Los Angeles where I got my Master's in Latin American Studies, which is a combination of History & Anthropology. I was also able to study Mixtec in Oaxaca, Mexico! Finally, I attended Sac State and got my Bilingual Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from the Bilingual Multicultural Education Department. I was able to do some teaching in Antigua, Guatemala! My passion for learning and observing has made me a better teacher. I love continuing to learn all of the innovative tools to enhance my teaching practice.
