Welcome to our Carnegie Scots, new and returning!  I am so excited to be embarking on my fourth year as a part of this dynamic community.  We are pleased to have new members joining our staff (Math, PE, Science, Spanish and Special Education) and welcome our returning staff for another amazing year at Carnegie.  We are also thrilled to have Ms. Takoa Raney join us for her second year as our Vice Principal.

While we are still the Carnegie Scots, our journey together this year will look significantly different.  Coming off an abrupt “ending” to all things we knew as normal in the 19/20 school year, we are embarking on the start of this 20/21 school year in a different stance.  As we embrace and jump into this new school year in a distance learning stance, we want you to know that we are here to support you through all of these changes and challenges.  Not only are some of you entering middle school for the first time (a HUGE challenge in itself), but all of you are being asked to be more self-motivated, self-structured and organized in a completely different way.  We are going to be asking you to stay connected, communicate and advocate for your learning, all on a digital platform.

Parents and guardians, we are all on this wonderful middle school journey together.  I encourage you to stay fully engaged in your student’s learning and successes by accessing the Q Parent Connection (parent portal) regularly, attending virtual Back to School night, and joining in the fun at the virtual Open House in the spring.  Additionally, you are invited to join me on the first Thursday of each month at 6:00 PM for a Carnegie Check-In Zoom opportunity to stay connected with what’s happening at Carnegie, in classrooms, and around the district.

Here’s to a bright and shiny new year!  I look forward to supporting you and your student in any way possible.
