Carnegie Middle School offers a variety of recreational after school sports. The seasons take place roughly as follows:
Girls' Volleyball - early September through late October
Boys' Basketball - late October through mid-January
Wrestling - November through March
Girls' Basketball - mid-January through mid-March
Track & Field - March through May
The San Juan Unified School District currently sponsors the wrestling and track & field programs. Coaches are typically Carnegie staff members, and there is no cost for students to participate.
The Orangevale Recreation and Park District currently oversees the girls' volleyball, boys' basketball and girls' basketball programs. Coaching staff is typically provided by the OVRPD, and students must be registered and pay for the activity through the OVRPD. Details about an activity and the opportunity to register online may be found on the OVRPD's website; search for Recreation - Sports.
When registration and/or sign ups for a sports activity are approaching, information will be provided on the Carnegie Connection morning announcements and published in the Carnegie News Flash parent e-newsletter.
Student athletes may also wish to visit the Positive Coaching Alliance which brings together character traits with high-performing athletes.
