BAND
Twin Lakes Elementary School Band is taught by Mr. Gerald Rheault.
Twin Lakes has both 1st- and 2nd-year band. All interested 5th and 6th grade students are invited to join the Twin Lakes Band. No prior musical experience is necessary for the 1st-year band.
Both 1st- and 2nd-year bands will practice Tuesdays after school ends (3:10).
1st-year will practice will end at (3:55), 2nd-year end at (4:25).
Both 1st- and 2nd-year bands will practice Thursdays (1:50).
1st-year will practice will end at (2:35), 2nd-year end at (3:05).
There is no registration fee to join the band. However, students are required to furnish their own instruments and purchase a Band t-shirt for $10. Sweatshirts are also available for $25.
Mr. Rheault will teach the standard elementary school band instruments: Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet, Trombone, Baritone, and percussion (bells and drums.)
Local music stores rent and sell instruments for student use. The school does not own any instruments to loan out.
Choosing the correct instrument is very important to the success of the student! Mr. Rheault will help students choose the correct instrument. Do not purchase instruments from eBay or discount stores without checking with Mr. Rheault. Some of these instruments are of VERY poor quality, and are not worth the purchase price.
Additional student items, such as music books and a portable music stand, are also required. Band students will need to practice at least 50 minutes per week.
BAND PRACTICE BEGINS SEPTEMBER 17, 2019
Students are expected to participate in two school concerts each year. Our Winter Band concert is Thursday January 23, and our Spring concert is Tuesday May 19.
2nd-year students also have opportunities to participate in the Capitol Section CMEA 6th-grade Honor Band and San Juan District Honor Band.
Students may continue in band at the middle school and high school levels where there are opportunities to participate in many additional school, area, and state band competitions and performances.
