• Dyer-Kelly Chromebook Return and Materials Return

Posted by Dr. T on 6/3/2020

    Dear Dyer-Kelly Families,

Chromebook and material collection is scheduled for Tuesday, June 9th from 8:00am-2:00pm.

With the end of the school year nearly here we are preparing to collect school materials including any loaned Chromebook devices, wireless hotspots, textbooks, library books, or other school materials that students may have at home.

On Tuesday, June 9th from 8:00am-2:00pm, families will be invited by the following schedule to return materials as well as collect any personal items that may still be remaining on campus. Please line up at the main entrance of the school at the following times:

    • 8:00am-8:30am Kindergarten
    • 8:30am-9:00am 1 st Grade
    • 9:00am-9:30am 2 nd Grade
    • 9:30am-10:00am 3 rd Grade
    • 10:00am-10:30am 4 th Grade
    • 10:30am-11:00am 5 th Grade
    • 11:00am-2:00pm Come if you missed your time slot

For families with more than one child who attends Dyer-Kelly, please come together as a family during the youngest student’s time slot. If for some reason you cannot make the time of the youngest student, then you are welcome to show up at the older student’s time slot. If you miss your time slot(s), then you are welcome to come at your convenience. However, let’s play it safe and show up at the time on the schedule so that you stay healthy while practicing social distancing.

If your student has been confirmed to attend a summer school program in the district, they do not need to return Chromebook or hotspot devices. All other students will need to turn their devices in.

While on campus, everyone will be asked to maintain social distancing to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. We ask that you stay with your family group and maintain at least 6 feet of distance between other groups. The use of masks is highly encouraged. School site and district staff are working together to review input from families, students, and community members, along with the recommendations and requirements of health officials to determine what next school year will look like. Based upon this feedback we hope to provide a variety of learning options to meet the needs of all of our families and will reissue devices in the next school year as needed.

Thank you for your continued support and all your hard work during this challenging time.

    Dr. Tornatore, Principal

    Dr. James-Pendleton, Vice Principal

  • Dyer-Kelly Chromebook Distribution Plan

Posted by Dr. Tornatore, Principal on 4/8/2020

    Dear Dyer-Kelly Families,

San Juan Unified is deploying a plan for distance learning while schools remain closed to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in our community.

Our goal is for all students to have a computer and internet access so students can receive instruction and stay connected to their classmates and teachers during this time. If you have a computer, laptop, Chromebook, or tablet in your home for each of your children that can run the most current version of a modern web browser (i.e. Chrome, MS Edge, or Safari), has a physical keyboard, a web camera, and an internal microphone you are welcome to use your own device. If your device does not meet these requirements, the district will provide a Chromebook.

Our Technology Services team will be signing-out Chromebooks to students who are in need of a device on Monday, April 13th from 8:00am-12:00pm. In order to comply with social distancing measures, we are scheduling families for specific pickup times. The line will begin at the main entrance and extend along the walkway of the small parking lot near the kindergarten building. For your safety, please stand on the pre-labeled spaces that are 10ft apart. Families will be directed to enter at the main entrance to the MP Room where Chromebooks will be distributed. After picking-up a device, families will exit the MP Room to the playground where additional learning materials and supplies will be provided. Families will then exit at the gate near the large parking lot. Please note that families will need to exit campus immediately and that our playground is not open for use.

    Chrombook Distribution - Revised

For families with more than one child who attends a SJUSD school and needs a device, please come together as a family during the youngest student’s time slot. There will be more than enough devices so no need to show up early out of fear that there will be none left. Let’s play it safe and show up at the time on the schedule so that you stay healthy while practicing social distancing. If for some reason you cannot make the time of the youngest student, then you are welcome to show up at the older student’s time slot. If you miss your time slot(s), then please show up between 11:00am-12:00pm. Along with picking up a device, an information packet about the device, available technology support, and how to sign-up for home Internet will also be provided.

    • 10:30am-11:00am 5 th Grade

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

More information on how to apply for free home Internet can be found at https://www.sanjuan.edu/domain/8860 . Please take good care of these devices since they are being donated from Dyer-Kelly classrooms. Once this Coronavirus situation is over, we will need to have them returned for students to use at school.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher if you have any questions or need assistance.

We are a strong community and will support one another during this challenging time. Thank you!
