Dear New and Returning Churchill Families:
It’s my pleasure to welcome you to Winston Churchill Middle School for the 2021-22 school year. Our team of teachers and staff are looking forward to returning to campus in the fall and we can't wait to welcome you onto our campus and meet you in person. In the meantime, we are building our online information guides to help answer many of the questions that you might have.
The IB program awards an internationally recognized diploma to students who complete the curriculum at the high school level. Winston Churchill Middle School offers the IB Middle Years Program (MYP), for students grades 6-8 and provides a framework of academic challenge that encourages students to embrace and understand the connections between traditional subjects and the real world and become critical and reflective thinkers with an international focus. We offer inquiry-and action-based learning, second-language classes, and many visual and performing arts classes. Winston Churchill Middle School and Mira Loma High School currently operate IB Middle Years and IB Diploma programs. Both schools are recognized as IB leaders in the Sacramento region.
It is important to know that Churchill has two unique tracks within our International Baccalaureate Program, the Ambassador Track and the Diplomat Track.
Ambassador Track - Students that are in the Ambassador Track are admitted to Churchill based on their home address and students must live within the school boundaries established by the school district. Ambassadors are admitted by the San Juan Central Enrollment Office.
For information regarding the 3-year Planning Guide for our Ambassador Track, as well as course selections for the 6th, 7th & 8th-grade Ambassador Track, click HERE.
Diplomat Track - Students in our Diplomat Track are admitted through an academic application process which is administered by the Advanced and Accelerated Programs Office. If you were accepted into Churchill by the Advanced and Accelerated Programs Office, then you are in the Diplomat Program (you would have received a letter of admission based on high academic performance).
