TK-8 Home School

  • San Juan Unified offers an established TK-8 Home School program designed to meet students' individual needs while providing support to families who choose to educate their children at home. Parents/guardians partner with a credentialed advisory teacher to create a customized educational plan for their students that meets California state standards.

    As part of the program:

    • Students receive four to six hours of daily instruction and complete coursework for each subject.
    • Parents or guardians meet regularly with the assigned teacher.
    • Families receive curriculum, resources, teaching tips and educational advice.

The TK-8 homeschool offers students in transitional kindergarten through eighth grade the ability to receive instruction from a parent, guardian or other caregiver with the support of a credentialed teacher. Families are partnered with a dedicated teacher who provides guidance on curriculum materials so that parents/guardians can deliver instruction to their students directly. Families check-in with their teachers on a regular basis to assess progress and identify any needed supports.
