Communication

The Communication Office is responsible for day-to-day gathering and sharing of information with families, local partners, news media and others. The office publishes the weekly San Juan Scene community e-newsletter, Behind the Scenes employee e-newsletter and Leadership Reflections for school and central office leaders. The communication team also manages the District's social media presence on Facebook and Twitter and is responsible for oversight of website content. Schools are supported directly by the communication team through consulting on a variety of issues including marketing, outreach and crisis response.   

Family and Community Engagement 

FACE offers support to both school sites and families in a variety of ways. Parent education and support is at the heart of our work with classes, workshops and other resources to help families fully participate in supporting their students' academic success. The semi-annual Academic Partnerships Conference offers parents, teachers and school leaders a chance to gather and examine their school's academic data and plan for improvements together. FACE staff are also available to help resolve parent concerns with school sites if needed. 

Safe Schools

The safety of students and staff is always a top priority for San Juan Unified. The Safe Schools office works with school sites, departments, community partners, law enforcement and others to address safety concerns. The Safe Schools Program is a partnership with the Sacramento Sheriff's Department that provides off-duty deputies to help assist with immediate safety issues on school campuses each day. The City of Citrus Heights provides two school resource officers to district schools within the city's limits. 

Special Projects and Grants 

San Juan Unified is fortunate to be awarded millions of dollars in federal, state and private grants each year. The Special Projects and Grants Office works to secure new funding opportunities while supporting those already awarded to the District and schools.
