San Juan Teacher Residency

About Us

The San Juan Teacher Residency offers a 1-Year Master’s and Credential Teacher Residency program (starting in June and ending in June the following year), in partnership with Alder GSE.
Residents in our program apprentice for one full school year in a mentor teacher’s classroom. Through our residency, our residents/students gain hands-on experience in the classroom with an experienced mentor and learn through a social justice lens. Residents also have access to a living stipend along with potential grants and scholarships.
Our Goals
The goals of our residency are to recruit for hard-to-fill teaching positions, provide opportunities and a pathway for classified staff, such as instructional assistants and guest teachers to pursue a career in teaching and who are already working in our schools, and to help diversify our workforce by hiring teachers that reflect the communities they serve.
The hard to fill credential areas we are recruiting for include Special Education (mild/moderate), and Science (single subject), and Math (single subject).
For more information about the residency program can be found under the academic programs at Alder Graduate School of Education (GSE) website.
