In alignment with Assembly Bill 2534, San Juan Unified participates in the required pre-employment review process for certificated employees. This law is designed to support student safety by allowing school districts to request and share information related to an applicant’s prior employment, including any substantiated misconduct involving students.

SB848
In accordance with Senate Bill 848, San Juan Unified provides employment verification for current and former employees as required.

Fingerprinting
A fingerprint background check is required prior to employment or volunteering in classrooms with San Juan Unified School District. There will be no charge for fingerprinting.
Schedule a fingerprinting appointment.
Bring the completed Fingerprint Authorization Form and a valid driver's license to the appointment at San Juan Unified School District Human Resources department.
The Human Resources Department is located at 3738 Walnut Avenue, in Carmichael, in the main district administration building. Please check in with the district receptionist upon arrival. Human Resources is open daily, except holidays and weekends.
After the appointment is completed, a receipt may be provided to the applicant with the Department of Justice's ATI number. The Department of Justice's Automated Applicant Response system may be contacted at (916) 227-4557 to find out the status of the fingerprint clearance.
The Human Resources Department will notify the site administrator when the applicant/volunteer has received fingerprint authorization to work or volunteer.

Volunteers:
In order to have your fingerprints done as a volunteer, you will need to complete the online Volunteer Verification at www.sanjuan.edu/volunteer. Once completed, you will receive a confirmation email with a Fingerprint Authorization form attached along with instructions to schedule a fingerprint appointment. When & Where are Pre-Employment Tests and
Assessments Given?
- Proficiency Tests and Workplace Technology Assessments are taken remotely using a one-time link provided by Human Resources.
- Language tests are completed at the San Juan Unified School District office at 3738 Walnut Avenue in Carmichael, by appointment only.
Please click the link below to sign-up for your pre-employment test. Proficiency testers will receive a testing link sent to the email they provide on this form. Language testers will receive a phone call to schedule an appointment for an in-person test.
Workplace Technology Assessments may only be taken once. Proficiency Tests require a minimum passing score of 70%. If needed, specific sections of the test may be retaken by a candidate, no more than three (3) times, with at least 72 hours between each exam. Applicants are encouraged to retain their electronic results, as they do not expire.
