A note from Superintendent Bassanelli: Reflecting on a year of growth and gratitude
Good morning,
As we conclude the 2024-25 school year, I would like to take a moment to reflect on all that we’ve accomplished together and look ahead to the important work still to come.
This year, I’ve been continually inspired by the dedication of our students, staff and families — from classrooms to the community, from performances to athletic fields.
One of the most exciting milestones this year has been the launch of our strategic plan, which is already guiding how we support student success, strengthen equity, and deepen engagement with our families and community. Across the district, schools and departments are bringing this work to life — setting goals, identifying supports and working together to ensure every student feels valued, challenged and prepared for their future. I invite you to watch this end-of-year recap video, which highlights how our strategic plan is already shaping meaningful progress across the district.
Of course, this season also brings meaningful transitions. We proudly celebrate the Class of 2025, a remarkable group of scholars, artists, athletes and leaders whose achievements represent the very best of our community. Whether they are headed to college, a career or another path, they carry with them the strength and support of the entire San Juan Unified community. We also recognize the many students across all grade levels who are moving forward on their educational journeys, ready to embrace new challenges, reach new milestones and continue growing into their full potential.
Thank you for your continued partnership, trust and belief in what we can accomplish together. I hope the summer months offer time to rest, reconnect and recharge.
We’ll see you in August, ready for another year of learning, growth and achievement.
In community,
Melissa Bassanelli
Superintendent
