A note from Superintendent Bassanelli: Strengthening real-world experiences for students through partnerships
I recently had the pleasure of joining our community partners at the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District on a ride-along with some of our Del Campo High School fire technicians and emergency response pathway students. When we visit classrooms, we often see students engaged in hands-on experiential learning that helps prepare them for the field. By bringing in partnerships that provide on-the-job learning, experiential learning is amplified by the additional mentorship and reinforcement provided by these partners. This ride-along experience brought to light the importance our community partners play in guiding our students’ educational and career journeys.
In addition to seeing our fire technician and emergency response pathway students and partners in action, I also had the opportunity to visit our Business Academy class at Mesa Verde High School, where they have partnered with SAFE Credit Union to provide their students with real work experience. I had a great time making this video and hearing from our students and community partners about the importance of these valuable collaborations.
Our career pathways offered throughout the district are strengthened by the partnerships we have with community partners who are willing to support our students. I hope that by reading this, our community feels inspired to partner with us in bringing new opportunities to our students and taking their educational experience to the next level.
Our district is committed to continuing this work with our community by bringing innovative and engaging practices that will support our students’ future goals.
In community,
Melissa Bassanelli
