Board Briefs: Dec. 17, 2024

Here are a few highlights from the Dec. 17 board meeting (the agenda packet is available):

Three board members sworn into new terms, new president elected

Before the board meeting, Pam Costa (Area 2) was sworn into the board for her fourth term, while Nick Bloise (Area 4) and Abid Stanekzai (Area 1) were sworn into the board for their first terms. Ben Avey was elected president this year, while Tanya Kravchuk will serve as vice president and Manuel Perez will serve as clerk.

Board approves 2024-25 first interim report and accepts the 2023-24 audit report

The board accepted the 2023-24 audit report as prepared by the district’s independent auditor. The board also approved the 2024-25 first interim report. 

In other news…

• The board held a public hearing and approved the Visions in Education Charter School Renewal Petition for a term of five years, starting July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2030.
• The board held a public hearing and adopted a resolution declaring the conveyance of a permanent easement at Katherine Johnson Middle School to the Fulton-El Camino Recreation and Park District.
