Board Briefs: June 10, 2025

Here are a few highlights from the June 10 board meeting (the agenda packet is available):

Board hears update on the Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP)

The board held a public hearing regarding San Juan Unified’s 2024-27 LCAP, which is a three-year plan that supports the continuous improvement of student outcomes across the eight state priority areas, with a particular focus on English learner, low-income and foster youth students. The LCAP is reviewed and updated annually based on multiple data sources, including input from educational partners, state and local data and relevant research. View the full presentation. • The board held a public hearing and discussed the proposed 2025-26 Budget. Action is anticipated at the June 24 board meeting.
• The board held a public hearing regarding the Choices Charter School 2025-26 LCAP. 
• The board held a public hearing and approved the New Pacific Charter - Arden Arcade petition for a term of five years, starting July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2030.
• The board adopted a resolution recognizing retiring Interim Deputy Superintendent of Schools and Student Support Amy Slavensky for her service and commitment to the San Juan Unified School District.
• The board held a public hearing and adopted a resolution to permit temporary interfund borrowing of cash.
• The board discussed the bargaining interests of the San Juan Professional Educators Coalition and the public was invited to comment.
• The board approved contracts for cabinet members covering the 2025-26 and 2026-27 school years.
