San Juan Unified unveils new logo
The San Juan Unified School District is excited to officially launch a new logo and visual identity guidelines for the district.
Elements of the previous district logo can be traced back to the creation of the San Juan Unified School District in 1960. While the previous logo has served our district well for many decades, research with students, families, staff and community revealed an opportunity to create a symbol that represents current values and priorities.
“Our district has changed so much over the years, and I am proud to debut our new visual identity, which represents where our district is at today and hopes to be tomorrow,” said San Juan Unified Superintendent Melissa Bassanelli. “Our community shared what was most important to them in what we stand for as a school system and I’m excited to see the new logo roll out across the district.”
Over the 2022-23 school year, San Juan Unified worked with a local marketing and design firm, Uptown Studios, to redesign the current district logo and develop visual identity guidelines. As part of the process, input and feedback was collected from staff, students, families and community members through surveys and focus groups to help inform the attributes and qualities needed for a new logo.
The new logo reflects the diversity of our community and our commitment to continuous improvement. Specifically, the logo draws on three main themes:
-
Learning and Knowledge
-
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
-
Transparency and Forward-Thinking
