Superintendent leadership update - Oct. 15, 2025

San Juan Unified School District Superintendent Melissa Bassanelli recently received a medical diagnosis that requires her to take a medical leave of absence. During her absence, Chief of Staff Trent Allen will serve as the primary point of contact and work in collaboration with the board, superintendent’s cabinet, site leaders and staff to ensure the district continues to provide strong support for students, families, and the broader community.

District leadership remains committed to advancing the goals outlined in the community-developed strategic plan, maintaining a focus on student success and the ongoing work taking place across schools and departments.
