Literary Magazine
Overview
San Juan Unified literary magazine is a student-led initiative driven by passionate students and mentored by educators. The magazine provides young writers with a platform to share their creative works, emphasizing the power of creative writing in promoting identity, equity and educational justice. It was created to give students a space where they can express themselves freely. The theme for the first issue of the magazine is “Identity,” where students explore personal experiences and external influences on identity. For the first issue, students submitted various forms of writing, including short stories, poetry, comic strips, essays, scripts and novel excerpts. Students were encouraged to submit their literary works in languages other than English.
Future Plans
The team aims to publish the magazine annually, with hopes of transitioning to a bi-annual publication.
