AP (Advanced Placement)

Advanced Placement (AP) exams are college-level assessments developed by the College Board. These exams allow high school students to demonstrate mastery of rigorous coursework and potentially earn college credit, advanced standing, or both at colleges and universities.

  • Offered: The first two weeks in May
  • Registration: Completed through the student’s AP teacher or school site
  • Fees: Families are responsible for exam fees unless they qualify for a fee reduction. Financial assistance is available for eligible students.
  • Credit Policy: While a score of 3 or higher is considered passing, each college or university has its own policies regarding the acceptance of AP scores for credit or placement. Students are encouraged to check with individual institutions for specific guidelines.

Taking AP exams not only enhances a student’s college application but also provides the opportunity to save on college tuition by earning credit while still in high school.
