Substance Use Prevention Education (SUPE)

A collection of free online courses dedicated to providing a range of accessible content for educators. This program is available through the CLEVER app on the San Juan dashboard.

Part of the Stanford Cannabis Awareness Toolkit. This premade curriculum provides activities, online quiz games, and worksheets for youth in addition to presentations and resources for facilitators.

A skills-based health education program created to meet group and classroom needs. Facilitators can teach the comprehensive program or select only the lessons needed.

An evidence-based program for youth, ages 12-19, who may be experiencing problems associated with mild to moderate tobacco, alcohol, or other drug use.

A collection of programs that utilize the motivational interviewing technique to help youth discuss their own substance use and make decisions about change

A research-validated substance use prevention program shown to reduce risks of alcohol, tobacco, drug use, and violence by targeting the major social and psychological factors that influence risk.

This program helps determine the severity of use, raises awareness of consequences, and provides incentive for positive change. Program length is customizable for 1-, 4-, or 6-sessions for intervention.

Section N: Behavior and Discipline

Tobacco/Nicotine Products/Vaping

Smoking, using or being in possession of any product containing tobacco or nicotine is prohibited anywhere on district property. Prohibited products include, but are not limited to, cigarettes, cigars, smokeless tobacco, and electronic delivery devices (e-cigarettes).

Students who use or are in possession of tobacco/nicotine products or delivery devices are subject to discipline.

Controlled Substances

Students found using or in possession of controlled substances or other intoxicants may be suspended. Students providing or selling controlled substances, or substances represented to be controlled substances, will be recommended for expulsion.

Over the Counter & Prescription Medicines

Upon the request of the family and physician, an authorized school employee may administer medications to a student. Otherwise, supplements of any kind, over-the-counter medication and prescription medication are strictly prohibited and students should never bring these substances to school. Students found with these substances will be subject to discipline.

Families are encouraged to talk to their student(s) about never taking any pill, supplement or medication unless it is given to them by their doctor, parent or guardian or an authorized school official. Some people, at some time during their life, may have an adverse reaction to a supplement or medication. Adverse reactions may also result if more than one medication is taken during the day or if a medication is not taken according to directions or in the proper dosage.
