Several family education opportunities offered in October

Photo of parent with child At San Juan Unified, we believe that learning starts at home and continues at school. The district’s Family and Community Engagement team is offering three upcoming family education opportunities beginning in October. Parents, grandparents, caregivers and community members are invited to attend these workshops and learn how to support your student's academic and social-emotional success in school.

  • Loving Solutions, is a 10-week program designed specifically for parents and caregivers raising strong-willed children, ages six to 11. The class meets on Tuesdays, from Oct. 3 through Dec. 19, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Thomas Edison Language Institute.
  • Parent Project is a similar parenting class targeted at parents and caregivers who struggle with difficult teenage (ages 12 to 18) behavior. This class meets Wednesdays, from Oct. 4 through Dec. 30, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Mesa Verde High School.
  • Keys to College class series helps families prepare a plan for success after high school. Whether students are planning to attend a four-year university or seeking a non-traditional path after high school, these workshops help families discover how they can succeed. Keys to College meets Tuesdays, from Oct. 3 through Oct. 24, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Rio Americano High School. Keys to College can also be viewed on demand, or on educational cable.

Interested individuals can register for any of these classes online at www.sanjuan.edu/familyed or by calling the Family and Community Engagement team at (916) 971-7929.
