Join us in celebrating National School Lunch Week, Oct. 14-18
To highlight the National School Lunch Program, serving 30 million children daily, San Juan Unified schools will celebrate National School Lunch Week from Oct. 14-18. The theme, “School Lunch: What’s on Your Playlist,” spotlights how today’s school cafeterias are serving healthy menu items, customized to provide a variety of options that meet children’s food preferences.
National School Lunch Week will highlight the dedicated entree service lines available daily at three of the San Juan Unified high schools – Bella Vista, Rio Americano and San Juan. Throughout the week, students will have the opportunity to take quizzes and win prizes.
School lunches offer fruits, vegetables, whole grains and milk, and meet federal nutrition standards by limiting fat, calories and sodium. All San Juan school cafeterias serve healthy lunches that have been student-tested and approved.
San Juan Unified elementary students can enjoy breakfast for $2.00 and lunch for $3.00. Secondary students pay $2.25 for breakfast and $3.50 for lunch. Some students may qualify for free or reduced-priced meals - learn more at www.sanjuan.edu/morethanameal.

Nutrition Services works tirelessly to create meals that are not just healthy, but desirable to students. Well-loved Mariemont Elementary School food service worker Wanda Kirkland was a 2018 Spirit of San Juan honoree, for not only her dedication to providing healthy meals to students, but for the connection she makes with the students who enter her lunch line and help in her kitchen.
