San Juan Unified invites students to enter National Nutrition Month® poster contest by April 3

Student is eating a yogurt. San Juan Unified’s Nutrition Services Department is celebrating National Nutrition Month® with a poster contest open to all district elementary school students. National Nutrition Month® is celebrated each year during the month of March and focuses on the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits. This year’s theme is “Eat Right, Bite by Bite!”

Students are invited to submit one 8-½-by-11-inch poster showing what “Eat Right, Bite by Bite” means to them. On the back of the poster, students should include their first and last name, school and grade level. Posters must be submitted to Nutrition Services by April 3. Students can drop off posters at their school site. Submissions will also be accepted by mail or drop-off at the Nutrition Services Department, located at 3738 Walnut Ave., Carmichael, CA 95608.

Three winners will be selected and their posters will be displayed in their school office or cafeteria. Additionally, the winners will receive a commemorative certificate to recognize their achievement and a 100-percent frozen-fruit-juice slush party for their classes. Winners will be announced later in April.

National Nutrition Month® is an annual nutrition education and information campaign created by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
