Board Briefs - Sept. 10, 2019

Here are a few highlights from the San Juan Unified Board of Education’s most recent regular meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 10 (the full agenda packet can be found here).

Update on 2018-19 end of year data results shared

Previously, each fall the board has been provided with a summary report of the district’s California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) test results. As the district continues to open its stance and culture to one of continuous improvement, staff provided the board with a comprehensive look at the district’s summative metrics related to English language arts, mathematics, school climate and English language proficiency. In other news...

  • The board recognized Diane Boyd (English teacher at Mesa Verde High School) and Svetlana Popov (math teacher at Rio Americano High School) as the 2020 Teachers of the Year. They also recognized Mary Hankes, a child development permit teacher at Thomas Kelly Elementary School, as the 2020 Certificated Employee of the Year. 
  • The board accepted the unaudited actuals for 2018-19 and approved revisions to the 2019-20 budget.
