Two San Juan Unified employees named Sacramento County's Classified Employees of the Year
Lichen K-8 Bilingual Instructional Assistant Lisa Blen and district Bus Driver Dolly Livingston have been named two of the six 2019 Sacramento County Classified Employees of the Year.
Earlier this year, Blen and Livingston were named two of San Juan Unified's Classified Employees of the Year. They then moved on to the county level.
Twelve district and county office of education staff from six categories competed in the county competition this year. A selection committee, made up of representatives from the participating districts, chose one winner from each category to represent Sacramento County at the state level. Winners were selected for exemplary performance of responsibilities that contribute to the success of district programs, services, or special projects. Blen was recognized for the para-educator and instructional assistance category, while Livingston was recognized for the transportation category.
Blen has worked at Lichen K-8 for ten years and is also the school's family and community liaison. She is known to go above and beyond for the Lichen community on a daily basis. Blen has built a strong Family Resource Center with books, learning materials and resources for parent and makes it a point to personally contact families who need support.
For more than 16 years, Livingston has worked in the district's transportation department. As a bus driver, Livingston transports special education students across the district. Over the years, she has built strong relationships with students and takes the time to know each of them. The students on her route look forward to riding the bus and seeing Livingston every day.
Blen and Livingston will now move forward to represent Sacramento County in the California Department of Education Classified School Employees of the Year competition.
