May 20: Weekly COVID-19 Update

The adjusted COVID-19 case rate for Sacramento County fell to 6.3 per 100,000 while the testing positivity rate, adjusted for equity, remained flat at 3.8 percent. The case rate must fall below 6 per 100,000 for a period of time before the county will be eligible to move to the orange tier of the state’s COVID-19 risk assessment system.

Return to traditional schedule confirmed for 2021-2022

Staff and families received an update today confirming that all San Juan Unified schools will return to a traditional full-time, five days per-week schedule starting Aug. 12. Most schools will return to the start and end times they had before March of 2020.

Student vaccinations

The Pfizer vaccine received the final necessary approvals in order to be offered to those age 12 and older, opening vaccinations to a large number of students. 

This week’s clinic put on in partnership with Rite Aid drew nearly 1,000 for their first dose of the vaccine. Another clinic with Rite Aid has been set up for Wednesday, May 26 at Bella Vista High School. Appointments are required and can be made by visiting https://www.sanjuan.edu/may26vaccine

The event is open to anyone age 12 and older including students and adults. Those under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
