San Juan Unified is looking for Local Control Accountability Plan Parent Advisory Committee (LCAP PAC) members to provide feedback and input to the Board of Education regarding our district’s progress toward goals outlined in this year’s LCAP and the creation of next year’s plan. Your voice is important in making sure we are meeting the needs of all students — especially English language learners, foster youth, homeless youth and low-income students.

LCAP is a state requirement that is based on current local needs and priorities that links San Juan Unified’s budget towards reaching goals. The LCAP PAC members focus on what can be done to help students succeed, especially those that are English language learners, foster youth, homeless youth and low-income students.

Who can participate: Parents/guardians, high school students and community members who are not represented by a San Juan Unified School District employee group. The committee is looking for students, parents/legal guardians especially those who are low-income, foster youth, homeless youth or English language learners. Our goal is to fill open seats on our committee and mirror the district’s diverse community.

Time commitment: Sept. 28, Oct. 19, Nov. 16, Dec. 14, Jan. 25, Feb. 15, April 19, and May 17 from 6-8:30 p.m. Members will also be expected to attend an all-day meeting on March 9 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. A subcommittee may set additional meetings at the convenience of its members. LCAP membership is for a two-year term and meetings are held at the district office board room. Childcare is available as needed for all meetings!
Members are asked to: Offer feedback and ideas to fellow committee members based on input and observations collected from other parents/guardians and students at their “home” school and in their neighborhoods. Reading will be required between monthly meetings and translation services will be provided when requested.
