Board Briefs - June 11, 2019

Here are a few highlights from the San Juan Unified Board of Education’s most recent regular meeting on Tuesday, June 11 (the full agenda packet can be found here).

Public hearing held regarding revisions to 2017-2020 LCAP

A public hearing was held regarding revisions to San Juan Unified’s 2017-2020 Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP).

The LCAP includes eight state priority areas: Implementation of State Standards and English Language Standards (EL), Student Achievement, Student Engagement, School Climate, Parental Involvement, Course Access, Basic Services, and Other Student Outcomes. The State of California requires extensive community and stakeholder input in the creation of the plan prior to bringing it forward to the Board of Education for action. Additionally, the state requires that a review of the State Accountability Dashboard be included as one source of data that informs the revised plan.

This year’s LCAP includes the 2018-19 Annual Update and revised actions/services for 2019-20. The three-year LCAP must be board approved prior to the adoption of next year’s budget. Board action on the revised LCAP is anticipated on June 25.
