San Juan Unified receives donation to help alleviate student meal debt
San Juan Unified’s Nutrition Services Department accepted a generous donation of $1,320 from the Spirit of Giving team, comprised of several employees from Intel in Folsom, on Jan. 30. The funds will be used to pay down the district’s lunch debt at the end of the school year. The Spirit of Giving team members Tami Perez, Nikki Bee, Cam Harder and Karen Percy presented the donation to Nutrition Services Director Sneh Nair.
“We will apply the money to lower down the debt at the end of the year,” said Nair. “We are very happy. Whatever we get, helps us toward paying off any unpaid balances.”
Each day San Juan Unified serves about 6,000 breakfasts and around 17,000 lunches to ensure students have access to healthy meals at school.
