We are excited to announce we are moving locations next school year. As a standalone high school we will be better able to serve our students by providing an array of opportunities to build their academic skills, college preparedness and career readiness. We know it takes time to coordinate transportation and to organize family schedules so we wanted to communicate with you as soon as we could about this transition. As we plan for next school year, students will be expected to attend school in person. Currently full time enrollment for students at La Entrada is a minimum of four periods a day. We will continue to work towards helping students get caught up on credit with the goal of graduation, additional time will be provided for credit recovery options.
This coming school year we will also be expanding our focus on career readiness and expect students who are not attending at least 6 periods a day to be employed, working with our Youth Employment Technician towards employment, working at an internship or taking community college classes.
Our new location on Hemlock Street will be more centrally located in the San Juan Unified School District. La Entrada will be a short walk from Bus Route 1 with an RT Bus Stop at Hemlock and Auburn. This new location will provide us with more space, and we will be able to combine the resources of La Entrada East and West. We will continue to provide breakfast and lunch for students and are working to develop a career and college center that will be ready to go on Day 1.
For students and families wishing to remain at their current school sites:
La Entrada West @ Encina: Students will need to enroll next year with Encina Preparatory High School
La Entrada East @ Fair Oaks: With both schools moving to Hemlock Street - the only option would be to transfer to El Sereno Independent Study or enroll in your school of residence.
We are looking forward to seeing all of our students back on campus next school year at our new location!
